Shiv Sena's Aaditya Thackeray to contest elections, first one from the family

Aaditya Thackeray filed his nomination papers for the October 21 assembly elections from Worli on Thursday. The 29-tear old Shiv Sena scion is going to be the first Thackeray to contest in an election. No one from his family fought elections till date even though they have been at the forefront of politics in Maharashtra.

Neither his grandfather and the founder of Shiv Sena, Late Shri Balasaheb Thackeray, or his father Uddhav Thackeray or his nephew Raj Thackeray, now MNS chief, ever contested any elections.

While filling his nomination papers, aaditya submitted an affidavit declaring his total assets of Rs. 16.05 crore. It includes immovable properties worth Rs. 4.67 Cr. which has been gifted by his father, Uddhav on a single day in 2013 and one gifted by his mother Rashmi a month ago. He showed bank deposits worth Rs. 10.36 cr and bonds worth Rs. 20.39 Lakhs. As per the affidavit, he owns a BMW valued at Rs. 6.50 lakh.

Aaditya has been in news for his work related to the environment and beach cleaning with many celebrities joining hands with him on the initiatives. In a historic move, Shiv Sena has not recognized him as the future Chief Minister but have also taken measures to regain the lost control after the demise of Bala Saheb.

Having completed his L.L.B. from KC College, Churchgate Mumbai, aaditya is deemed as the future of politics in Maharashtra. To wrinkle out his entry into the big game, Shiv Sena has joined hands with BJP to contest the upcoming elections. This move is seen as a way to not only introduce Aaditya to the nation but also make sure that he is not on his own in his first ride itself.
