Renowned filmmaker Anurag Kashyap disclosed the profound toll on his health following Netflix’s withdrawal from the adaptation of Suketu Mehta’s ‘Maximum City.’ The director, in a recent interview, attributed two heart attacks and a battle with depression to the aftermath of this shelved project.

Expressing dismay over Netflix’s decision, Kashyap emphasized the significance and honesty of his work on ‘Maximum City.’ He cited the lack of concrete reasoning behind Netflix’s departure, leaving him in a state of emotional distress and heavy drinking.

Detailing the impact, Kashyap confessed, “Maximum City was where all my energy went. I was heartbroken. I totally lost it.”

Kashyap, recognized for his directorial brilliance in acclaimed films like ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ and ‘Masaan,’ recently directed ‘Kennedy,’ now streaming on ZEE5. Despite setbacks, his creative journey continues, exemplifying resilience in the face of adversity.
