Four Coaches of Superfast Train Derail Near Madar Railway Station in Rajasthan

At least four coaches of a superfast train derailed near Madar railway station in Rajasthan’s Ajmer on the intervening night of Sunday-Monday. Rescue operations are currently underway in response to the incident. Speaking about the derailment, North Western Railways Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) Shashi Kiran stated, “Vehicle number 12548, traveling from Sabarmati to Agra, derailed near the home signal in Ajmer’s Madar today. Four general coaches and the engine of the train had derailed.”

Fortunately, the CPRO confirmed that there was no loss of life. “Railway officials promptly reached the accident site. There has been no loss of life in this incident. However, those who sustained minor injuries were promptly taken to nearby hospitals,” he added. Meanwhile, Ajmer Railway Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Rajeev Dhankar announced the formation of a three-member committee to investigate the cause of the accident. “Our headquarters has established a three-member committee to investigate the cause of this accident. The officers will conduct a thorough investigation, considering all the facts and statements,” said Dhankar.

The railway authorities have established a support desk at Ajmer station and provided a helpline number, 0145-2429642, for assistance. As a result of the accident, rail traffic has been affected on the line. Six trains were cancelled, and two were diverted after the derailment of four coaches of the Sabarmati-Agra superfast train in Ajmer.

Train No. 19736, traveling from Marwar to Jaipur, has been cancelled, while Train No. 12915, the Sabarmati to Delhi rail service, has been diverted, along with Train No. 17020 from Hyderabad to Hisar.

Last month, four wagons of a goods train derailed at Rayanapadu near Vijayawada railway station in Andhra Pradesh. Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported from the incident. However, several trains were diverted, resulting in delays to their schedules.
