Rajnath Singh Responds to Kejriwal Arrest: Opposition Misleading Public
  • PublishedApril 12, 2024

In the wake of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has rebuffed allegations of government interference, questioning why courts haven’t granted relief to the AAP leader. Singh accused the Opposition of misleading the public, emphasizing that government agencies like the Enforcement Directorate and CBI were merely carrying out their duties. He challenged the Opposition to prove any undue influence over the courts, asserting that if their leaders were jailed unjustly, they could seek protection from the judiciary.

Singh highlighted the case of AAP’s Sanjay Singh, who recently obtained bail in a money laundering case, contrasting it with the continued detention of others like Manish Sisodia. Despite assertions of judicial impartiality, Singh noted the Opposition’s lack of faith in the legal system.

Addressing the Congress party’s “washing machine” allegation, Singh denied any such mechanism within the BJP, dismissing claims of orchestrating arrests for political gain. He maintained that agencies operate independently and refuted accusations of targeting specific individuals. Singh condemned attempts to divert attention from alleged corruption and assured that agencies would continue their work diligently.
