Tamil Nadu Government Admits Mistake in ISRO Advertisement
  • PublishedMarch 1, 2024

A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticized the Tamil Nadu government for featuring a photograph of a Chinese rocket in an advertisement for a new ISRO facility, Tamil Nadu minister Anitha Radhakrishnan admitted to making a “small mistake.” Radhakrishnan stated that officials overlooked an error in the advertisement’s design, which included the image of the Chinese flag. He acknowledged that the mistake went unnoticed by the government.

Prime Minister Modi, while addressing a gathering in Tirunelveli, accused the DMK government of falsely taking credit for the ISRO facility by featuring China’s sticker in the advertisement. He claimed that the DMK was insulting India’s scientists, the space sector, and the country’s progress in space.

The Tamil Nadu BJP president, K Annamalai, asserted that the advertisement reflected the DMK’s allegiance to China. He accused the DMK of disregarding India’s sovereignty and engaging in desperate efforts to discredit ISRO’s second launch pad announcement in Kulasekarapatinam.

In response, DMK MP Kanimozhi argued that India had not declared China an enemy country. She highlighted Prime Minister Modi’s invitation to Chinese leader Xi Jinping to India and accused him of diverting the issue due to an unwillingness to accept the truth.
