Titled Pravasi, the poem and its visuals give a profound picture of what the poor have gone through during this lockdown
The COVID-19 lockdown has inspired various celebrities to put up videos with messages saying that we will sail through this period and good days will return. Many celebrities like Sonu Sood, Swara Bhasker, Amitabh Bachchan, Barkha Dutt have come forward to help the migrants. But actress Taapsee Pannu narrates a reality check through a video she recently shared on social media.
It seems as
if the actress is urging the people of India to not shy away from the harsh and
painful reality that has been a prominent part in the ongoing lockdown.
Taapsee is amongst the few celebrities who never shy away to put their thoughts into words. Pannu has put up a video with animated images of a number of disturbing and painful moments the poor people of India have gone through ever since the lockdown was imposed since late March.
The animated visuals include the ordeal of migrant workers who were forced to return to their homes, thousands of miles away, on foot, an eighth standard girl taking her father to their village on bicycle, the poor being beaten up by the cops, a child weeping besides the dead body of his mother. The rail accident that killed many workers on the tracks.
Pannu solemnly recites the hard-hitting Hindi poem, Pravasi. A line that touches you the most is – Hum toh bas pravasi hain, Kya is desh ke vaasi hain? [We are just travellers. Are we citizens of this country?]
