Bollywood Movies have been a victim of several controversies, maybe it relates to actors, storyline or some extra sensitive people.
Tanjahi: The Unsung Warrior is an upcoming Bollywood period movie which stars actors like Ajay Devgn, Saif Ali Khan, and Kajol in lead roles. The movie is based on the story of Tanaji Malusare, who was the army leader of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the founder of the Maratha Empire in the 17th century.
The movie is directed by Om Raut and set to release in January 2020 in 3D. A few days earlier, the trailer of this movie was released and since then the controversies started rolling in.
Dr. Jitendra Awhad, The legislator of The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has threatened the makers of this movie to show the basic facts in a right manner instead of portraying history with wrong characters. The NCP MLA has warned the Director Om Raut of depicting the history inaccurately and showing the Maratha warrior Tanaji Malsure in a wrong way.
He shared in his tweet that few changes are to be done for the movie and serious action will be taken if the required changes are not met with immediately. Jitendra Awhad also added if the director seeks this as a threat then they are free to do so.
Sambhaji Brigade has also raised objections against the trailer and in a letter alleged that the movie has intentionally tried to erase Shivaji Maharaj's secular image by showing OM on the saffron flag in one of the scenes. The organization has also objected to the dialogues of Kajol who plays the role of Savitribai Malusare. The organization also demands for a special screening of the movie "Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior" ahead of its January 2020 release.
This is not the first time, a period movie went into trouble with the controversies. Several other Bollywood movies like Padmaavat, Bajirao Mastani, Mohenjo Daro also faced the same because of these fringe groups.
Padmaavat got into trouble mainly because of the Karni Sena over allegations of portraying the image of Rajput Queen Padmavati in a wrong manner. They even vandalized the sets and threatened to harm the actress Deepika Padukone. Later, the movie name was changed from Padmavati to Padmaavat and it got a huge success and the audience liked it.
