Tapsee got slapped 7 times whilst shooting for ‘Thappad’

Taapsee Pannu has always done unique and distinctive roles in her movies. She portrayed women empowerment, gender equality and challenged unfair norms of the society.

In Taapsee Pannu upcoming film ‘Thappad- Bas Itni Si Baat’ she is playing the role of an urban educated woman- Amrita, who dragged her husband to court and demanded a divorce after he slapped her. She decides to take a stand against practice.

However, during the shoot Taapsee revealed that her on-screen husband, actor Pavail Gulati, slapped her seven times to get the perfect shot. She said that he was so anxious and terrified that he it took him two days to gather the courage to slap her.

"I was being smacked all over multiple times to get the right shot. In the motion picture it's just one, however, Pavail was anxious to the point that we finished the shot in 7 retakes," Taapsee said.

Taapsee further revealed that portraying Amrita in ‘Thappad’ was a huge challenge for her as she couldn't relate to the character at all.

"She took all the typical nonsense of 'girls should compromise,' 'little physical violence is part of love,' 'and girl should do everything to save the marriage.' As Taapsee, I can’t take such nonsense at all," she shared.

Some days ago, the makers shared the trailer of the film. Have a look at the trailer below.
