The director-actor duo started with the hit song, Flower where
Baljit was the director, editor and DOP. The history books say that people have
always loved it whenever these two have worked together. The vibe which Baljit
brings to the big screen suits Gippy's personality and aura and the same is
emulated to films when they finally started working together. Their first movie
together was Mirza: The Untold Story for which the director got nominated PTC
Punjabi Film Award for Best Director. People surely loved the way Gippy was
presented in the film.
His rowdy and gangster look was loved by one and all. However, Baljit made sure that Gippy wasn't typecasted as an actor. The next film they did was Ardaas in 2016 which was directed by the Punjabi rockstar, Gippy Grewal himself and Baljit Singh Deo worked as the DOP and editor. The combination of two worked like butter on toast and the audiences loved the film.
Keeping up with the trend, their next film was Manje Bistre which was soon followed by Manje Bistre 2 in succession. Gippy played the lead role while Baljit over the direction department. Both the films received a humongous response from the audiences and broke box office records as well. Both were now comfortable with each other and knew what would work to make a project successful.
Their latest film is ‘Daaka’ which is going to hit the big screens on November 1st. Baljit has directed the film while Gippy is playing the lead role apart from writing the story. This is the sixth collaboration between the two which means that the success story of these two will continue. The Gippy Grewal - Zareen Khan starrer is already seen as the record breaker and it won't come as a surprise if these two spread their magic once again.
Gulshan Kumar & T- Series, in association with Humble Motion Pictures’ presented ‘Daaka’ is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Gippy Grewal and Ravneet Kaur Grewal.
Daaka will hit the screen on 1st November 2019.
