They should be brought out in public and lynched: Jaya Bachchan on Hyderabad accused

Actor turned politician, Jaya Bachchan today in the Rajya Sabha demanded that the accused in the Hyderabad case should be brought out in the public and lynched. This garnered her a lot of appreciation and in no time #jayabachchan started trending on the microblogging site.

Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan was among the angry voices in Rajya Sabha demanding justice for the Priyanka Reddy, the Hyderabad doctor who was raped and burnt a couple of days back. Being a member of the house, she did not want to be sound as if she supported public lynching or other such measures but still demanded justice and said that these people should be brought out in public and lynched. While talking on the issue, a DMK MPjoned her and suggested that the rape convicts be castrated.

Talking about the case, four people name Mohammad Areef, Jollu Shiva, Jollu Naveen and Chintakunta Chennakeshavullu, have been arrested in the same by the police. The convicts raped Priyanka, incapacitated her and once they were done with their heinous crime, burnt the body and fled the crime scene.

From the last few days, the whole nation has been disturbed by the news and the general public is demanding justice for the victim with the severest of punishments.

While the general public is in favor of public punishment for such crimes, they have been putting pressure on the Supreme Court of India to change the laws which are in practice currently to something more stricter, atrocious so that there will be a sense of fear among those who dare to even think about it.

Currently, the executive order has increased the minimum punishment for female rape from seven years in prison to 10 years, extendable up to life imprisonment, and introduced measures to speed up court proceedings in rape cases.

This has caused an outrage on social media with the #HangRapists trending on Twitter.
