The two
words that are used most often for women than men are ‘compromising’ and
‘adjusting’. All the mothers teach the same to their daughters in the told or
the untold ways which in turns make them to quit the ambitions inside them. But
on the contrary girls are also taught how to be flexible to adjust with their
husband’s requirement.
With the
change of time the Indian society has adopted and managed to teach their girls
about the real life. But still there are many who are not concerned with what
teachings they should be providing to their daughters so that they should stop
the adjusting and begin to mark themselves instead.
Here are
some things we think every Indian mom should teach her daughter:
To deal with different kinds of men
We cross our
path with different people every day. Every mother should teach their daughters
how to deal with the different kinds of men. We are taught that respect your
elders but what if they are causing some harm to us. Will you ask your child to
still respect them? What’s the point of respecting those kinds of men who’d
eve-tease, molest or don’t behave. Tell your daughters to know how to handle
these kinds of men.
To have an opinion
We are
taught to speak when it is needed. We are not taught about giving or having an
opinion. Mothers should give lessons to the girls on how to have opinions on
their own. Blindly accepting other’s opinion can sometimes lead you to the
wrong decision.
How to refuse
You all must
have watched the Bollywood movie, ‘Pink’. The very famous dialogue of the
movie, “No means No”. We believe that most of us accept what others say and
never have that power to refuse because we are not taught to refuse. Every
daughter should be taught how to refuse for something that you are not willing
to do or accept.
To be comfortable alone
Single
mothers or the single women are not digestible for the society. The people
around them will always talk behind their back. But everyone has their right to
live the life in their own way. Every mother should teach their daughters that
it is OK to be alone. We can alone live our own life with the choices that we
have made for ourselves.
We know our
society is very much accepting the new change but still there are some cases
where we need to upgrade our thinking.
