Sacred Games has been one of the favorite series of the audiences and it created a lot of excitement when the second series of the season was announced by the makers. The second season will return on August 15. This series will star Saif Ali Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui and promises to be even bigger than the previous season. The second season has been shot extensively in Kenya, Cape Town, and Johannesburg.
In the beginning of the trailer, we see Ganesh Gaitonde (Nawazuddin) reappearing and Sartaj Singh (Saif) on the outlook for more hints regarding the danger which engulfs the city of Mumbai. Meanwhile as the trailer continues, Gaitnode says to Sartaj: “Life haraam ho gayi thi sardaar ji jaise ab aapki hone wali hai.”
Gaitonde in his typical swag style further reveals that the game is bigger than what one can even imagine. He says “Maloom pada ye game aap se, in sab ch******n se, mujhse bada hai.”
Pankaj Tripathi in the form of a guruji has come out of the confines of a small TV and is now seen in full glory and fame. The trailer also introduces us to the characters of Ranveer Shorey playing the role of Shahid Khan and Kalki Koechlin playing the role of Batya Ableman. Batya will be one of the most important characters this season.
In this season, the audiences will see Ganesh Gaitonde taking refuge in Kenya and becoming the lord of crime. Other than Kalki and Ranveer, there will also be new faces that the audiences will get to see in the sequel. These faces are Made In Heaven fame, Sobhita Dhulipala and Mirzapur and Puncch Beat actor, Harshita Gaur. The two will be seen in pivotal roles.
The first season of the Netflix original series was based in Vikram Chandra’s best-selling novel. The season was directed by Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane. The web-series received much appreciation and applause for its powerful plot and outstanding performances.
Sacred Games is basically all out Sartaj, a pessimistic Mumbai police officer who is given a great opportunity to capture Ganesh Gaitonde.
The interesting Guruji played by Pankaj Tripathi was introduced as Gaitonde’s third father and would have a major role in the forthcoming season. Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap will continue directing Gaitonde’s scenes and Neeraj Ghaywan will now be directing Sartaj’s scenes.
Vikramaditya Motwane and Varun Grover continue being the showrunner and the main writer of the series respectively.
The cast of the Sacred Games had previously announced that the second season of the series will be bigger than the first one.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui said “This season will be the baap of the first one. Even if people know Ganesh Gaitonde, they won't know what to expect from him. We shot extensively across Mombasa (Kenya), Cape Town and Johannesburg.”
Adding to this, Pankaj Tripathi said “As an actor, I can't talk in detail about the show. I've been asked not to. But yes, I can definitely say that the scale of the show is huge this time. The writing is fantastic and the show will be very interesting.”
