The 'Jumbo' of the Indian Cricket team, Anil Kumble turns 49 on Thursday. He is considered one of the greatest bowlers of all time in the world of cricket and for Indian, the greatest match-winner to ever play in Test cricket. To put his legendary record into facts, he has 619 wickets in Test cricket and 337 wickets in the One-Day internationals.
The former Test captain was one of the core members of the Indian team and his commitment towards his craft was loved and appreciated by his team members as well as his fans. One of his fondest memories in the Indian jersey came in 1999 at Ferozshah Kotla, Delhi where he tore Pakistan apart. During this match, he took all 10 wickets in an innings and became only the second bowler to achieve such feat.
His calibre and talent were already known to everyone when he won the Wisden Cricketer of the Year 1996, however, he ended all kinds of doubts about his place in the team and cricket history.
Birthday wishes are pouring in from all corners of the world and his ex-teammates are sending him sweet little wishes as well. Check them out here:
