In 2012, when 5 five air hostesses performed a ramp walk on an airline, the news came as a shock. In the era of feminism, how could an airline opt for a sexist marketing strategy?Taking place on a Vietnam-based low cost airline-Vietjet Air, the Airport authorities immediately imposed a fine of of $1,761 due to lack of permission. However, the airline seems to have gained its footing as Vietnam 'bikini airline'. Yes, you read it right. Although, not all staff are females which allows them to wear bikinis only on special flights, the airline also publishes a yearly calendar showcasing its staff in bikini. The airline was founded by the billionaire Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao in 2007. Interestingly, the bikini airline will begin a direct flight operation to India. As reported by an online portal, the flight service would take off between Ho Chi Minh city and New Delhi. It will be operating four days a week in order to cater to the growing air traffic between the two cities. The flight service will commence this year in the month of July. Also, the Vietjet airline "had announced its plan to roll out the flight service in India at the Vietnam-India Business Forum on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of India-Vietnam diplomatic relationship," as reported by a leading daily. While that may be a good business for both countries, one thing that cannot be ignored is the cultural difference. Will the highly cultured citizens of India who have great values fly on such an airline? It hoped that they try no such thing so as not impede on their chances of widening their areas of operation.
