Virat Kohli was all praises for the young Prithvi Shaw who left everyone enthralled with his debut series against the West Indies, which India won without breaking a sweat.
Shaw became the youngest Indian to score a century in Rajkot which was also his debut match. He scored a total of 237 runs in the innings and therefore won the man of the series award.
Kohli who was just like Shaw won the U-19 World Cup with India in 2008 and then gradually made it to International cricket. He was extremely happy and impressed with the young player who approached and played the game without any fear.
Kohli said, "He looks like someone who can get you off to the kind of start that you require, especially to make the first mark in any series that you play. It's great to have a guy who is so fearless, and he isn't reckless, he's very confident about his game. You might feel like he might nick off one now, but he hardly nicks the ball. And that we saw in England as well, when he was batting in the nets. He was attacking but he was in control throughout, which is a very rare quality against a new ball. You know, to play so many shots and be in control of all of them. It's a great sign. I don't think any of us were even 10 percent of what he is at 18-19. But he has to build on that."
The Indian captain also added that there are areas which require improvement but Shaw had been tremendously good and too steps towards helping the team win their place in XI prior to the series of versus Australia, which begins on December 6 in Adelaide.
