Last night, an unidentified man was found under a girl’s bed in PU hostel no.5. The man is said to be in his early 30’s and was wearing a yellow shirt and black trousers. The incident triggered panic at the hostel on Thursday evening. As soon as the security guards caught him, he was handed over to the police.
The man was drunk and had a screwdriver in his hand. When the girl entered her room, the man was already inside. When he saw the girl, he ran out and reached the ground outside the hostel. When other girls informed the security, the man was caughtsaid Vani Sood, secretary, PU Campus Students Council. “We condemn this security breach. Whom will we hold responsible if something happens with any girl resident. If workers enter the hostel, the wardens should ensure that they exit timely. A committee should be formed to investigate the matter,” she said. (Source: The Tribune) Mehak, a resident of PU hostel no. 5 said, “This is really disturbing, we’re not even safe in our hostel room. If this has happened now, it can happen again. Why there’s no tight security”? Neena Caplash, Dean, Students Welfare (Women), said,
It is learnt that the girl had brought someone to break open a lock. It is suspected that the man then hid himself somewhere in the hostel and later entered the room. The matter is under investigationWell, the police are still investigating and what did the man get out of this is still not known. We hope that such incidents don’t occur in future.
