WORLD CUP 2019 : VIRAT KOHLI SUSPENDED FROM THE WORLD CUP SEMIFINAL

Kohli is in news once again, one for his sweet gesture towards the old lady and one for losing his control on the field. During India's 8th match of the 2019 Cricket World Cup against Bangladesh Virat Kohli got into an argument with the on-field umpires Marais Erasmus and Ruchika Palliy.

In the second ball of the 11th over of the Bangladesh innings, Mohammed Shami hit Soumya Sarkar on the pads. Marais Erasmus, one of the on-field umpires ruled it not out and that was when Virat Kohli took a review in the last 5 seconds. However, umpire Marias Erasmus rejected the appeal and declared Soumya Sarkar not out.

Kohli got angry after India lost a review, when the third umpire did not use ball-tracker for an LBW call.

After the rejection, Kohli decided to go for the ‘Decision Review System’ (DRS). The DRS then showed that the ball had hit Soumya’s bat and pad simultaneously. Thereafter, the third umpire Aleem Dar also stayed with the decision of Erasmus.

According to Kohli, the ball had touched the pad first, following which he also argued with the on-field editor after showing his dissent.

With this incident, Kohli now has got two demerit points as he had got one earlier during the Test match against South Africa in January 15, 2018.

The talented cricketer have breached the Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel. This offense is linked to “Excessive appealing during an International Match”.Level 1 breach holds a minimum penalty of an official rebuke, a maximum penalty of 50 percent of a player’s match fee, and one or two demerit points. Whenever a player gets four or more demerit points, they are converted into suspension points and a player gets banned.

Two suspension points get converted to a ban from one Test or two ODIs or two T20Is, whichever of them is first. If we look little back, Kohli was fined 25 percent of his match fee during the Afghanistan match on 23 June,  for excessive appealing.

Amidst all this we wish the team to stay strong for the upcoming matches .Do let us know us your thoughts in the comment section below for more updates about the same, keep visiting Gabruu.com.
