“Punjab Government Allows Private Pharmacy College Exam Centers, Tightens Surveillance for Fairness”

“Punjab Government Allows Private Pharmacy College Exam Centers, Tightens Surveillance for Fairness”
  • PublishedDecember 7, 2023

The Punjab government has authorized examinations at 109 private pharmacy colleges in a reversal of last year’s decision to curb unfair practices. Acknowledging student hardships in commuting to distant centers, Minister Harjot Bains highlighted stringent measures in place. Government ITI and polytechnic staff will monitor CCTV surveillance centrally to ensure fairness.

Recent exams in government centers witnessed low attendance, prompting this change. Notably, previous years saw near-perfect attendance at private college exams. The decision aims to balance accessibility for students with maintaining academic integrity. Challenges observed in the recent June exams, where attendance ranged from 45% to 58%, signal the need for careful monitoring.

This move addresses concerns while maintaining vigilance against unfair practices, promoting equitable opportunities for all pharmacy students in the state.
