Indo-Islamic Cultural Foundation Announces Commencement Date for Ayodhya Mosque Construction and Unveils Crowdfunding Initiative
  • PublishedJanuary 23, 2024

The Indo-Islamic Cultural Foundation (IICF) has officially declared that construction of the grand mosque in Ayodhya, named “Masjid Muhammed bin Abdullah” after Prophet Muhammad, is set to commence in May of this year. Haji Arfat Shaikh, head of the development committee overseeing the mosque project, revealed that the construction is anticipated to span three to four years.

In a bid to facilitate this historic undertaking, the IICF is contemplating the launch of a crowdfunding website to generate the necessary funds. The effort reflects the Foundation’s commitment to fostering unity and harmony among communities. Shaikh emphasized, “Our effort has been to end and convert enmity, hatred among people into love for each other…irrespective of whether or not you accept the Supreme Court judgement.”

The Supreme Court of India, in 2019, declared the demolition of the Babri Masjid in 1992 as unlawful and ruled that a temple would be built on the disputed land. Additionally, a parcel of land was allocated to the Muslim side for the construction of a mosque.

Zufar Ahmad Faruqi, President of the IICF, clarified that the Foundation has not yet approached individuals or organizations for funds. Athar Hussain, the Secretary of the IICF, explained the delay in the mosque construction, stating it was to incorporate more traditional elements into the design.

As the IICF embarks on this historic endeavor, it seeks support from individuals and communities worldwide to contribute to the construction of the “Masjid Muhammed bin Abdullah” and uphold the spirit of unity and understanding.
