Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann Raises Alarm Over Democracy’s Fate in Light of Recent Election Irregularities
  • PublishedJanuary 31, 2024

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann expressed grave concerns over the state of democracy, citing alleged vote tampering during the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation election. Addressing a press conference today, he asserted, “If the BJP wins the coming General Election, it will be the last day of democracy.”

Mann presented a video depicting the presiding officer, Anil Masih, allegedly invalidating ballot papers belonging to the Congress-AAP alliance. Masih, a former BJP Minority Cell general secretary, raised questions about his impartiality. Mann highlighted delays, lack of polling agents, and demanded an FIR against those involved.

“This goes beyond the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation; it signals a larger threat to our democracy. The irregularities raise doubts about the upcoming Lok Sabha elections,” warned Mann. He emphasized the need for a united front, transcending party lines, to safeguard democracy.

The Chief Minister’s assertion underscores the gravity of the situation, with legal action underway and a call for transparency in electoral processes.
