PM Modi Targets Mamata Banerjee Over Sandeshkhali Incident in Coochbehar Rally

PM Modi Targets Mamata Banerjee Over Sandeshkhali Incident in Coochbehar Rally
  • PublishedApril 4, 2024

During his election campaign in Coochbehar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and the Trinamool Congress party regarding the Sandeshkhali incident. PM Modi accused the Trinamool of protecting the culprits involved in the incident and emphasized the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) commitment to empowering women and ensuring justice. He asserted that only the BJP could bring an end to the injustices faced by women in Bengal and called for strengthening the party’s presence in the state.

In a surprising turn, PM Modi also expressed gratitude towards Mamata Banerjee and the West Bengal government during the rally. He recalled an incident from a previous rally where space constraints were created for him, but this time, he acknowledged the absence of such obstacles. PM Modi’s remarks come amidst intense political campaigning ahead of the upcoming polls in Cooch Behar, Alipurduar, and Jalpaiguri.

The Prime Minister’s criticism coincided with the Calcutta High Court’s remarks on the Sandeshkhali incident, where it condemned the alleged mishandling by the district administration and ruling party. The court’s scathing comments underscored the seriousness of the issue and raised questions about the safety of women in the state, echoing PM Modi’s concerns expressed during the rally.
