Paresh Rawal Exits ‘Hera Pheri 3’; Returns Signing Amount with Interest Amid Contract Dispute
  • PublishedMay 24, 2025

In a significant development, veteran actor Paresh Rawal has officially exited the highly anticipated film ‘Hera Pheri 3’ due to contractual disagreements. According to reports, Rawal returned the ₹11 lakh signing amount along with 15% interest, citing concerns over the payment structure and project timeline.

As per a report by Bollywood Hungama, Rawal repaid more than he initially received, highlighting his professionalism. The actor reportedly had issues with a clause in the term sheet stating that his remaining fee — ₹14.89 crore — would only be disbursed a month after the film’s release, expected in late 2026 or 2027. With the principal shoot planned for next year, Rawal was unwilling to wait nearly two years for full compensation.

His sudden exit has reportedly caused unrest within the production team. Akshay Kumar, co-producer and lead actor of the film, has initiated legal proceedings against Rawal. Pooja Tidke, the legal representative for Akshay’s production house, confirmed to PTI, “There will be severe legal consequences. His departure has financially and creatively impacted the project.”

Paresh Rawal’s portrayal of Baburao Ganpatrao Apte is iconic, having become a cultural phenomenon since the release of ‘Hera Pheri’ (2000) and its sequel ‘Phir Hera Pheri’ (2006). With his exit, the future of Hera Pheri 3 now hangs in the balance.
