Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) Launches ‘Punjab Bachao Yatra’ to Rally Against AAP Government
The Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) commenced its highly anticipated ‘Punjab Bachao Yatra’ from Attari border, Amritsar, marking the beginning of a month-long journey covering five parliamentary and 45 Assembly constituencies. SAD President Sukhbir Singh Badal initiated the yatra, seeking to engage with voters and address concerns.
As part of the campaign, SAD unveiled a poignant 4.48-minute protest song, ‘Utth Jaag Punjabiyo…Punjab Bacha Lo’ (Wake up Punjabis, save Punjab), capturing the spirit of the movement. The yatra will witness Sukhbir Badal interacting with voters in convoy-bearing vehicles adorned with Akali Dal flags.
The campaign also introduces a 2024 calendar showcasing the achievements of the former SAD government, emphasizing the leadership of Sukhbir Badal and Parkash Singh Badal. A pamphlet, released on January 30, highlights SAD’s accomplishments, contrasting them with the alleged failures of the AAP government, claiming mismanagement, excessive loans, and negligence in critical sectors.
SAD accuses the AAP government of driving industry out of Punjab, compromising law and order, and neglecting farmers’ welfare, alleging 565 farmer suicides and 350 deaths due to drug overdose during AAP’s tenure.
The AAP swiftly responded, characterizing SAD’s initiative as the “Parivar Bachao Yatra” and attributing Punjab’s challenges to the Badal era.
